Four Māori Trust Board members are taking action to bring together the descendants of the Ancestress Pourāhui using a tuakana teina model to share intergenerational wisdom. The aim is to promote hauora and enhance cultural identity through rongoa, pūrākau, whakapapa, and kapa haka, focussing on pepeha to create a tight bond with each other for the purpose of suicide prevention and intervention.

The 3-day Pourāhui Matariki wānanga will be held on ancestral whānau owned whenua in the heart of Ngutunui /Ngāti Maniapoto rohe, with the goal to engage with 100 participants. Rangatahi and Kaumatua will take part in health and wellness activities, share in whakawhānaungatanga and embrace the Matariki rituals to remember our ancestors.
