Te Taura Whakapapa – Awhi whānau
Masterton
This initiative is designed by, with and for Māori. It builds on the previous work done through Kahungunu ki Wairarapa and focusses on building our collective skills, knowledge and abilities to deal with suicide and prevent suicide from happening in our rohe. Our three focus areas this year are Tane Ora, Māori and Taiohi.  The six key deliverables are: Build an Awhi Whānau Peer Support group; Formalise suicide prevention and postvention training and awareness; Kaupapa Māori Wairarapa Wānanga focussing on Wellbeing, Resilience and a Secure Cultural Identity; Promotion of Tane Ora Men’s Health; and Co-coordination of postvention support for whānau.
*This Iwi Initiative was supported by the Māori Suicide Prevention Community Fund 2020-2021.
