Person Name: Robyn Richardson

Location:  Palmerston North / Papaioea

This programme targets support for tamariki and rangatahi in kura kaupapa, wharekura, and Tai Wānanga Tū Toa and their whānau to connect to culture and build a strong cultural identity. A series of short videos will be created and will provide an explanation, an example for them to relate to, and then some simple exercises to practice to create a daily positive habit.

The subjects covered will be such things as dealing with judgment, criticisms, condemnation, emotions, (kare-a-roto) thoughts (whakaaro), feelings (ahua), hurt (pamamae) and wairua that are no longer serving them positively.

Building whānau understanding using the Whare Tapa Whā model helps to reduce depression, anxiety and its symptoms, and triggers. Having knowledge of the support available will contribute to increasing whānau awareness and responsiveness and help to build resilience and strong healthy whānau and communities.
