Mauri Tau is a two-tiered approach to suicide prevention for whānau in  Ōtautahi.  

A 3 day noho wananga for Kaimahi teaches the Mātauranga approach used by Tohunga Papa Hohepa Delamere which focuses on Te Taha Wairua aspects of Whakamomori, and works to rebalance the mauri of those experiencing mental and psychological health challenges.

Phase two is an 8 week programme for those suffering from depression and/or suicidal ideation and provides space for a support person to attend alongside the whaiora. The hotaka commences with a 2 day wānanga followed by 3 weeks of personal treatment with a  practitioner trained in mirimiri/romiromi. The 4th week is the final wānanga with up to another 3 private treatments if required. Mauri Tau is designed to empower whānau with traditional wisdom and knowledge, and to connect, and heal themselves and their whānau to realise their full potential.
