Connect Whā Promotion and Engagement Online Campaign
Christchurch: Canterbury

Connect Whā is a campaign that acknowledges the importance of connection.  This initiative raises awareness around four points of connection when engaging with community and whānau and their importance in this space.
The four distinct points of connection include:

  • Wairua, (Rongoa, karakia, mirimiri etc)
  • Whānau (Close relationships/whanau friends)
  • Social Connections (Educations, Sports, Careers, Church etc)
  • Resources (health providers/professionals and tools)

Connect Whā is a play on words of the board game Connect Four. Utilizing this theme throughout their promotion, they look to address the disconnection experienced by Māori in the health system as well as in their communities.
As a working tool, Connect Whā will enable and enhance appropriate support needed for strengths focused approaches, resilience building for whānau and improved engagement of the whaiora (service user) with their health worker, community and whānau.

Organisation:  He Waka Tapu Limited
*This iwi initiative is proudly supported by Te Au (and Te Rau Ora) through the Māori Suicide Prevention Fund (2020-2021).
